HELPING PEOPLE IN MALAWI
There are about 13 million people living in Malawi, including about a million orphans, according to King City area resident Adina Smolcic, and she tried to help out Saturday by holding a charity yard sale at her home, with some help from her daughters Natasha, 6, and Annika, who's almost 3. She set no prices on the merchandise, asking people to pay what they thought items were worth. That worked well, as she raised $371.94, "which I think is phenomenal," she declared. Malawi is a small country in southeastern Africa, and it's considered one of the poorest countries in the world. "I believe we need to help, and it needs to start somewhere," she said.
