Tanzania: Taifa Stars' Camp to Be Dissolved

Taifa Stars camp is most likely to be dissolved as the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) is on the verge of securing a friendly match for the team.

TFF's request for a trial match against Malawi has been turned down resulting to cancellation of the scheduled match against the side on Wednesday.

Mwakalebela said Malawi turned down TFF request as most of their national team players are busy engaged in European leagues and have been denied permission from their clubs.

According to TFF secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela, his federation is now in desperate search for a friendly match from any of the Council of East and Central African Football Federation (Cecafa) member states.

Mwakalebela said already TFF has attempted to approach Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi following the collapse of the Malawi request.

"We are ready to foot the entire cost for any team that would honour our invitation to play against Taifa Stars," said Mwakalebela.

Should there be no response from the earmarked teams, Stars camp is subject for dissolution so as to allow players to join their respective league sides currently going on in the country.

Stars had re-assembled at the weekend for the trial match that never was as a move to gauge skills and preparation for the 2010 African Nations and World Cup qualifiers.

Tanzania is grouped alongside Cameroon, Cape Verde and Mauritius in the qualifiers.
