Stephen Constantine has quit his post as Malawi coach ending his turbulent 13-month relationship with the country's Football Association.
The former India coach joined Malawi just over a year ago and now feels he is not the right man to lead the Flames.
He told BBC Sport: "I have regretfully handed in my notice of resignation to FAM (Football Association of Malawi).
"The problems are far bigger than me and I am not going to change the mind set or the unprofessional behaviour of many that are there."
There however seems to be a miscommunication as the body have denied having any formal notice from the Englishman at this point.
FAM chief executive Charles Nyirenda said: "I hear he has resigned but my office is yet to get his official resignation letter."
Under the terms of his contract Constantine is required to serve out a two-month notice period while the association begins the hunt for his successor.
