The eighth housemate left the Big Brother House last Sunday - and Code Sangala's eviction was probably the most dramatic and eventful of the Big Brother exits.
While comments have been running about Richard being married and having a relationship with Tatiana in the house, it is just that maybe Richard was too honest with viewers, but the Malawian guitarist decided not to reveal much about his outside relationship. The morality issue arising from the Richard-Tatiana relationship has been a hot potato, both on the Internet and in the text messages running on the 24/7 broadcast of the reality show. Viewers on Sunday got a shock of their lives when it was revealed that the latest BBA2 evictee, Code, had a steady girlfriend, Juna Verheji, who is 20 weeks pregnant with his baby. The supportive woman had announced earlier that she loved and missed her boyfriend and that she was not going to let anything that happened in the house mess up their relationship. She was categorical that Code's involvement with Maureen in the house did not matter that much to her, and kept on repeating that their families loved Code and were very supportive of him.
"I am a nurse and I understand that if you put six males and six females in one house, isolated for this long a time, things are bound to happen".
She reiterated that both families supported Code 200 percent - which was something of a shocker to viewers since Code at no time mentioned anything about his girlfriend or that he had a baby on the way. Ironically, 'Codey' as Maureen fondly used to call him, was in fact one of the housemates who kept on gossiping about Richard's marriage and his involvement with Tatiana. But as the saying goes, you can cheat some of the people some of the time, the sly Code had a big shock in store for him on his eviction.
As is the norm with the eviction show, the Malawian housemate was grilled about his relationship with Maureen. While he answered that he had no regrets he did not realise that his 20-week pregnant girlfriend was present. As a result, Code almost collapsed when he saw his girlfriend standing right there before him. For a moment the poor fellow seemed not to know what to do. But fortunately for the unrepentant "prodigal" his forgiving girlfriend gave him a huge hug and an assurance that she still loved him.
"Look your baby has grown," the dazed Code was told as he looked on. In an interview published on the Big Brother 2 website, Code however tried hard to correct his statements. Asked how he felt after kissing Maureen so passionately and the next thing he was squeezing real life long-term girlfriend? He claimed Maureen was the one who had been clinging to him.
"I was ready to go when KB announced my name. I had to push Maureen back a little, but I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I just sort of gave in," Code said.
He further claimed Maureen knew they were not intending to be together on the outside and that she knew he and his girlfriend were still together. Of course trying to lie through his teeth he was further quizzed on whether he remembered telling Maureen that she was the one who had to make a decision regarding the possibility of a relationship between them outside the house.
"Did I say that? Well I think I might have been caught up in the moment," Code responded.
He even denied ever expressing interest in Zimbabwe's Bertha. Code was voted out by 10 countries, with Richard receiving only the remaining three.
Meanwhile, the nomination show, which aired Monday night, had yet another interesting twist.
With only four housemates remaining, nominations for possible eviction proved a daunting task. The three women - Uganda's Maureen, Angola's Tatiana, and the Nigeria's Ofunneka - received the most votes, with the only man in the house receiving a single vote. As is the practice, head of house Tatiana was given a chance to save one housemate and replace him/her with another. Quite a challenge given that the only probable replacement was her own partner, Richard.
However, she stunned everyone by choosing not to make any changes, and thus putting herself up for possible eviction.
